Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has announced amnesty to thousands of people arrested in anti-government protests.

The Guardian report, citing an Iranian news agency, said that the amnesty granted by the Iranian Supreme Leader would not apply to prisoners with dual citizenship in Iran.

According to Iranian news agency IRNA, the move will help prevent nationwide unrest after the state crackdown.
