Detention of students, proposal to deploy Rangers at the entrance gates of University of Karachi

Karachi: After the detention of a student of University of Karachi by CTD, a suggestion has been made to deploy rangers at the entrance gates of the university.

The case of Karachi University student being detained from the campus by CTD and filing a false FIR has forced the university administration to think. In this regard, to avoid such a situation in the future, an important meeting on the security situation in the campus was held on Monday morning under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi.

Wing Commander of Rangers also attended the meeting. On this occasion, the situation arising out of the forcible detention of a student named Ehtsham from the campus by the CTD and the false FIR registered against him in the alleged town police station and various suggestions to remedy such incidents in the future. Considered.

Sources told “Express” that on this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi has suggested to the wing commander of the Rangers that for better and effective security, the Rangers should return to the entrance gates of the university as in the past. The security of the entrance gates will remain with the guards of the university, however, Rangers personnel will be present to assist them.

Sources say that this proposal given by the Vice-Chancellor was agreed to in the meeting. Apart from this, it was also recommended that a future framework should be developed under which all the official security agencies should coordinate with the university administration and in connection with any action under this strategy, if the security agency comes to the university campus. So the university administration should not be unaware of it.

It is noteworthy that 4 days ago after a slight bitter exchange between 2 students, CTD’s intervention and false FIR registered against the student was apparently taken notice by the Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahu, however. University sources say that this notice is nothing but a verbal deposit and the administration of University of Karachi has not received any official notice on the matter so far.

Meanwhile, in University of Karachi, no internal inquiry has been started into this incident, nor has any internal action been taken against the student who was the trigger of the false FIR.
