Senator Sadia Abbasi says that 3 years imprisonment for smuggling up to 1 crore rupees is too much.
He said this in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Finance chaired by Senator Salim Mandviwala.
On this occasion, Chairman FBR while replying to Senator Sadia Abbasi said that he has tried to ensure that the minimum fine is in accordance with the value of the smuggled goods.
Senate Standing Committee on Finance Chairman Salim Mandviwala said that all the problems in customs are due to clearance agents.
He adds that all customs authorities have their own clearance agents whom he recommends to get the job done.
Senate Standing Committee on Finance Chairman Saleem Mandviwala demanded that these clearance agents be removed from the system.
