New Delhi: A transgender couple who have been together for three years is expecting a baby in India, making it the country’s first transgender couple to have a baby here.
According to Indian media, Ziya Paul and Zahid, a transgender couple in the state of Kerala, announced their pregnancy on Instagram.
Zia Paul was a man who underwent gender reassignment to become a woman while Zahid was a woman undergoing gender reassignment who got pregnant and will give birth in the next two months.
A transgender couple had their sex changed through hormone therapy. Zahid’s female reproductive organs had not been operated on, similarly Zia had not yet had the male reproductive organs operated on.
Transgender couple says that earlier we both decided to adopt a child but litigations were coming but now nature has given them their own child.
