Budget 2023-24;  42.41 billion for general elections, 15 billion for security

Islamabad: The federal government has earmarked around Rs 42.41 billion in the next fiscal year’s budget for the upcoming general elections, likely to be held in October or November 2023, while also earmarking Rs 15 billion for security.

In the budget, an amount of more than 5 billion 60 crore rupees has been allocated for the project management unit and voting. More than 4 billion 83 crore rupees have been allocated for the printing of ballot papers. Similarly, 270 million rupees have been allocated for the printing of election lists.

The federal government has also allocated one billion 79 crore rupees for the election training wing. An amount of more than 500 million rupees has been allocated for media coordination. An amount of more than 1.2 billion rupees has also been kept in the next budget for election preparations.

In terms of provinces, the federation has allocated about 9.65 billion rupees in the budget for elections in Punjab. It has allocated about 3.95 billion rupees for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On the other hand, it has allocated about 3.65 billion rupees for elections in Sindh. An amount of more than 1 billion 11 crore rupees has been allocated for Balochistan.
