The facts related to the increase in the prices of wheat, bread and bread have been released by the Ministry of Food Punjab and the district administration.
In FY 2022-23, the official support prices of wheat have increased significantly.

In the open market, wheat was sold up to Rs 5400 per maund and a 20 kg bag of flour was sold at Rs 2850 and this rate of inflation put 100% additional burden on the public’s pockets.
In June 2022, the price of plain bread was Rs 10, which increased to Rs 15 in June 2023 after an increase of Rs 5.
In 2022, simple naan was Rs.12 which became Rs.25 in 2023 and currently bread is being sold at Rs.20 and naan at Rs.30 in the open market.
In 2022, a bag of 10 kg flour was Rs 607, while a bag of 20 kg flour was Rs 1208.
In 2023, a bag of 10 kg flour is selling at Rs 1214 and a bag of 20 kg is selling at Rs 2417.
