Washington: US President Joe Biden, in a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan at the White House, rejected the Israeli position, insisting on maintaining the legality of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
According to the World News Agency, US President Joe Biden had an important meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan and Crown Prince Hussein Abdullah in Washington. The three leaders also had lunch together.
King Abdullah II of Jordan (who is also the custodian of Al-Aqsa Mosque) briefed the US President on the latest situation. During the meeting, the two leaders also had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Iraq on the same issue.
President Joe Biden, while appreciating the services of the King of Jordan as the custodian of Al-Aqsa Mosque, reiterated the American position that a two-state solution is necessary to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
King Abdullah II of Jordan also thanked the US President for adopting a principled position and informed about the entry of Jews into the place of worship of Muslims in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The US President expressed concern over the visit of the Israeli minister to the place of worship reserved for Muslims in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the permission of the Jews to worship, saying that the current status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque should be maintained.
It should be noted that since the establishment of the new government in Israel, the staunch Jewish ministers want to occupy the space reserved for Muslims in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and are bent on declaring it their place of worship.
The Israeli government wants to end the historic agreement and allow Jews to worship in the compound, where only Muslims can worship now.
