Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan has remarked during the hearing of the case that we do not have expertise in economic matters, will not interfere.
The case related to the privatization of K Electric was heard by a 3-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial. During the hearing, the Chief Justice remarked that we will not interfere in economic matters. We do not have expertise in economic matters.
Speaking to the petitioner’s lawyer, Rashid Rizvi, the Chief Justice said that if you want, you can approach the concerned High Court. However, Parliament has made 2 laws related to clause 3 of Article 184. Old cases are therefore scheduled for hearing to see the live issue.
Advocate Salahuddin told the court that an application has also come against KSC Labor Union, on which Justice Ayesha Malik said that that case is not before us at the moment.
The petitioner’s counsel requested that the hearing of the case be adjourned till next week, on which the Chief Justice remarked that the next week is the beginning of vacation, judges will not be available. The judges will be in the respective registries next week. You take the instructions, will hear the case tomorrow. It has been 18 years since the privatization of K Electric.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till tomorrow.
