The Maha Panchayat held in the Indian state of Haryana gave an ultimatum to the government to arrest the chief of the Indian Wrestling Federation, Brij Bhushan.
According to Indian media, the Maha Panchayat has given a June 9 deadline to arrest Brij Bhushan, who is facing allegations of harassment by women wrestlers.
According to reports, if no arrests are made, the panchayat has threatened to march with the wrestlers to Delhi and join their protest.
Farmers’ leader Rakesh Tacket has said that the government should resolve the issues through dialogue and arrest Brij Bhushan, if not arrested, we will set up panchayats everywhere in the country.
According to Indian media, after the panchayat, farmers’ leaders and many social workers came on the same page, the government has signaled for negotiations.
It should be noted that on May 31, Indian women wrestlers also gave an ultimatum of 5 days to take action against Federation Chief Brij Bhushan on sexual harassment.
The wrestlers say that if action is not taken, the medals will be thrown into the river Ganga in protest, while there is also a plan to go on a hunger strike at India Gate if the demands of the women wrestlers are not met.
