Beijing: If you are 60 years or older, a simple Chinese exercise can improve your daily functioning. Although this is a 1000 year old technique, further evidence of it has been found in Britain.

This exercise is called ‘Shui Shu Gong’ which can improve the functions of men in their 60s and 70s by having a positive effect on the entire body. These include things like cooking, balancing walking, and changing clothes.

The Simple Method of Shui Shu Gong

In this exercise, the arms are swung back and forth in a smooth and regular manner. Arms are moved five times in one set. But in the first four movements, the arms are moved slightly so that they come in line with the shoulder.

Now for the fifth time, while shaking the arms, the two knees are bent twice, but this process should be done exactly when the arms are going back and again when the arms are coming forward, then the knees should be bent for the second time.

The details of Shui Shu Gong will come later, but now Professor Neil Roberts at the University of Edinburgh has done detailed research on it and proved the effectiveness of Shui Shu Gong exercise. He says that seniors can quickly master this simple exercise and it has a very positive effect on overall health.

Simple exercise strengthens the hips, thighs and associated muscles. Swinging the arms energizes the shoulders, elbows and side muscles. Above all, the blood flow in the veins is good. This is why simple exercises have magical properties and hardly take a few minutes.

Professor Neil Roberts invited people aged 60 to 80 at his university, including 56 women. The experts divided all the volunteers into two groups. One group of them was given this exercise three times a week for 40 minutes which lasted for two months.

The other group was not given any such exercise. Now the women and men who exercised saw improvement in sitting up, working and daily routines. Apart from this, flexibility in his body had also increased.

Experts insist that this exercise is also beneficial for mental health and can even prevent aging.
