Damascus: Five members of the Palestinian militant organization Popular Front for Liberation were killed and 10 others were injured in a powerful explosion near the Syrian border in Lebanon.
According to the World News Agency, the explosion took place in the Lebanese area near the Syrian border, causing a fire in a building and a vehicle, and both were completely destroyed. It is not yet clear whether the explosion occurred in a vehicle or a building.
Five members of the Palestinian militant group were killed and 10 injured in the blast. The commander of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine blamed Israel for the explosion, saying that Israel had carried out an airstrike in the eastern town of Qasaya.
The commander of the Palestinian organization also expressed his determination that he will take full revenge from Israel for this attack and a strong response will be given.
Speaking to the BBC, Israeli officials rejected the Palestinian organization’s accusation, while a Lebanese security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the explosion occurred during a transfer of ammunition by the organization.
It should be noted that the Palestinian organization PFLP-GC is a relatively small militant group that was formed in 1968 and gained international notoriety for bombing an airplane and carrying out cross-border attacks in Israel in the 1970s and 1980s.
