Karachi: The University of Karachi Board of Higher Education and Research has approved the MPhil/PhD admissions for the year 2023, the admissions are likely to start from Sunday, June 4.
The meeting of the Board for Higher Education and Research in University of Karachi was held on Tuesday afternoon under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Iraqi, in which admissions for MPhil and Ph. will be done and applications will be invited from interested students.
These admissions will be given on the pre-existing admission policy of HEC as the admission policy approved by HEC under the Commission has not been notified.
Speaking to “Express” regarding MPhil/PhD admissions, Dr. Anila Amber Malik said that the entrance test is likely to be held in July after Eid-ul-Adha, candidates need to secure 50% marks to pass the test. will be necessary.
He said that the classes will be started in the last decade of July after the admission phase. According to Dr. Anila, MPhil/PhD admissions will not be given in every department including Faculty of Law where there are not three PhD faculty members as per the required criteria.
In the meeting of the Board for Higher Education and Research, the chairperson of the Department of Psychology, Dr. Anila Amber Malik, was appointed the convenor of the MPhil/PhD program, besides, a late PhD candidate was awarded a posthumous PhD in Chemistry. Award was also recommended and the matter was sent to the Syndicate for approval.
It should be noted that the student had passed away during PhD, but his PhD reports were positive, but due to the inability to conduct the oral examination (viva), there could be a degree award, on the basis of which this decision was taken.
