Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan have agreed on the immediate restoration of diplomatic relations and the appointment of ambassadors.
According to a foreign news agency, Sisi congratulated Erdogan on his success in the election while talking on the phone.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sami Shoukry visited Turkey in April and met with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
The two sides agreed to set a time frame for enhancing diplomatic relations and preparing for a meeting between the presidents of the two countries.
The Turkish Foreign Minister had said that after the May 14 presidential election, the heads of state could meet.
