Sindh High Court's order to release more than 40 workers of PTI

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered the release of more than 40 workers arrested under the 3MPO on a bond of Rs 10,000.

A petition against the detention of PTI leaders and workers under the MPO was heard before a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmad Ali Shaikh.

The response was submitted to the court on behalf of IG Sindh. The reply said that 525 persons have been detained under MPO notification, 154 persons have been detained under MPO while identification of the remaining persons is in progress. After the May 9 riots, the SSPs had recommended to the higher authorities. On the recommendation of various SSPs of Karachi, the Home Department issued the MPO and the MPO was issued on the orders of the Home Department. There was no illegal action by the police.

The mother of Rizwan Ramzan, who was detained from Lyari, appeared in the Sindh High Court. The mother said that my son contested the councilor election from Lyari but my son was picked up and locked up in Jacobabad. My son is a single earner and not enough money to visit Jacobabad.

Police said that 4 accused including Ashfaq were released by the subordinate court, the accused were arrested under MPO. The High Court ordered the release of the four accused and suspended the order of arrest under the MPO.

Additional Advocate General Jawad Dero submitted that the petitions are not hearable. The Chief Justice remarked that you should talk about hearing later, but first tell what is the material against the arrested. The government lawyer stated that you should listen to us, on which the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court remarked that you will challenge our order.

Government lawyers failed to produce concrete material against the arrested PTI workers. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the Sindh government in some cases.
