Islamabad: The presence of poliovirus was confirmed in two environmental samples taken from Peshawar.
Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel says that poliovirus has been confirmed in samples taken from two places in Peshawar, Lama and Narekhor.
He further said that according to the lab, the polio virus is genetically similar to the virus found in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
The federal minister said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are united in the fight against polio, the polio surveillance system of Pakistan’s polio program is working effectively, and the Prime Minister is determined to eradicate polio under the leadership of Pakistan.
Abdul Qadir Patel said that all necessary steps are being taken to eradicate polio.
The Federal Minister of Health urged the parents to give polio vaccine to their children.
