A hungry black bear entered a bakery in the US state of Connecticut and ate 60 cakes while employees watched in fear.
According to US media reports, employees of Test By Spellbound Bakery in the town of Avon, Connecticut were loading cakes from the garage into a van for delivery when a bear appeared.
Bakery owner Miriam Stephens wrote in an Instagram post that she was in the bakery when she heard her employee Maureen Williams scream from the garage. She was shouting that there was a bear in the garage.
Maureen Williams said in a TV interview that she yelled at the bear to scare it off, but it retreated and came back three times. Then she ran inside, Maureen said. The bear dragged a container full of cakes from the garage into the parking lot and ate about 60 of the cakes while the bakery’s owner and employees looked on.
Connecticut’s Environmental Agency says there are about 1,000 to 1,200 black bears in the state. Last year, black bears were spotted in 158 cities and towns in the state.
