New Delhi: Several top Indian wrestlers like Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia and Sakshi have been arrested by the police for accusing the wrestling federation chief of sexual harassment.
According to international media reports, Indian women wrestlers are demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual harassment and the protest has intensified.
Women wrestlers have been protesting on the streets and camping near the new parliament building since January demanding action against Brij Bhushan.
On the other hand, the President of the Wrestling Federation has denied the allegations of sexual harassment of women athletes. Senior Delhi Police officer Dipendra Pathak told local media that the women broke police barriers and did not obey the law, which is why they have been detained.
