The American investigative agency FBI uncovered the failed plot to assassinate the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The FBI released documents today that revealed a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II during a visit to California in 1983.
According to a foreign news agency, a man made a phone call saying that his daughter had died from a rubber bullet in Northern Ireland.
According to FBI files, the man said he would harm the queen.
The caller said he would install the device under the Golden Gate Bridge, and the device would explode as a royal ship passed under the bridge.
The caller also said he would kill Queen Elizabeth while visiting Yosemite National Park.
It should be noted that the Queen of Great Britain and Prince Philip visited the West Coast in the United States during February and March of 1983 and their visit was completed without incident.
A 1989 FBI document states that ‘the FBI is not aware of any specific threats against the Queen but that the British Royal Family has continued to face threats from the Irish Republican Army’.
