An action plan is prepared for rescue in view of severe heat wave in Sindh next month

Karachi: The Sindh government has prepared an action plan to prevent heat wave concerns in the month of June, the notification of which has also been issued.

Analyzing the situation in the notification, it was pointed out that climate change is having many negative effects on the global temperature, which is happening in different parts of the world including Pakistan.

Meteorologists have predicted that many countries, including Pakistan, will be severely affected in the form of heat waves, due to which there is a fear of loss of human lives in the urban centers of our country and the province of Sindh due to its unique topography. is facing the threats of climate change.

Being home to hot weather has taken a lot of damage that can be associated with climate change related disasters.

A devastating heat wave in Sindh province in June 2015 killed more than 700 people. Climate change could lead to more disasters like floods or droughts. Attempts were made to maintain close to 50 degrees Celsius, but according to the May 2023 weather trend, it may exceed 50 degrees Celsius.

The combination of heat and humidity is higher than human body temperature, which can lead to heat stroke. Heat wave conditions can cause heat stroke, mainly in urban and rural centers, where workers, including those working on construction sites, outdoor workers, farmers, police or security personnel, are exposed to high temperatures. Working industrial workers, door-to-door sellers, salesmen, bus, rickshaw or auto drivers, travelers or beggars or homeless people, drug addicts, children and senior citizens are said to be high risk groups. Concerns about damage from heat stroke are high.

In the notification, orders were given that the Director General of Health Services will play a leadership role in the provision of relief and health services across the province, heatwave emergency control rooms should be established in all the districts and cities of the province.

According to the notification, the District Health Officer will lead the health system at the district level, the Medical Superintendent of the Taluka Headquarters Hospitals will lead the process at the Taluka level. The Medical Officer-in-charge of the Basic Health Units will lead the medical activities in the UCs or Health Centers. Emergency services alert has also been issued in all secondary and primary which will be kept active round the clock while essential medicines will be made available in all health centers round the clock.

Rescue 1122 ambulance services will be made available at district, taluk headquarters hospitals and rural health centers to enable patients to access appropriate health facilities at the scene.
