Islamabad: Despite the court order, the court expressed indignation over the IG’s failure to appear in the contempt of court case regarding Shireen Mazari’s arrest.
Advocate Iman Mazari along with her lawyer Zainab Janjua appeared before Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb in the hearing of the case. The court inquired, didn’t the IG come? This is a case of contempt of court. The IG should have been here.
The Additional Attorney General said that the IG Sahib is in front of Bench One and will come for some time. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb expressed his surprise and remarked that on the first day, he used to tell why the entire missionary of the state was active. They used to tell earlier that the arrest of Shireen Mazari had nothing to do with MPO. They also told that whatever happened had nothing to do with the cases.
Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb said that he told the court that all this is being done in politics and has nothing to do with the cases. The state would have told on the first day that Shireen Mazari’s arrest has nothing to do with peace. The whole state was engaged in missionary politics, they would have told us. If you had told us, we would have heard other cases. In Badi Nizaar, the IG preferred the order of DC Pindi to the orders of this court.
Later, the court summoned IG Islamabad in personal capacity for the next hearing. The Islamabad High Court ordered that the IG submit a written reply before the next hearing. Further hearing of the case was adjourned till May 31.
