Seeking response from Punjab government on detentions after May 9

Lahore: The court has sought an answer from the Punjab government on the detentions after the violent incidents that took place in the country on May 9.

A hearing was held in the High Court on the petition against the detentions under MPO 3 and 16, in which the court summoned the Attorney General of Pakistan and the Advocate General of Punjab for assistance.

The court sought the details of the persons detained after the events of May 9. Justice Amjad Rafiq said that it should be told how many people were ordered to be detained.

Justice Amjad Rafique, while hearing the petition of former Tehreek-e-Insaf Member of Assembly Zainab Umeer, also sought a detailed and comprehensive answer from the Punjab government. MP and 3 and 16 were challenged by the petitioner.

During the hearing, Advocate Azhar Siddique told the court that Section 3 and 16 of the General Ordinance are against the Articles of the Constitution, while the counsel for the Punjab government opposed the application and declared it inadmissible.
