Over-the-top (OTT) platform Netflix banned password sharing in more than 100 countries, including the US.
Netflix has warned users that their accounts cannot be given to anyone outside the household.
Netflix said yesterday that it is sending account-sharing emails to users in 103 countries, including the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Mexico and Brazil.
In the emails, Netflix said that one account can only be used in one household.
Apart from this additional fee has to be paid to access the OTT platform from another location.
The company estimated that more than 100 million households have shared their passwords with friends.
By the end of March, Netflix had 23.25 million paid subscribers globally.
