Islamabad: The federal government and caretaker Punjab government filed a reply in the Supreme Court opposing the snap elections in the province.

According to Express News, Chief Secretary Punjab submitted a written reply to the Election Supreme Court on behalf of the caretaker Punjab government on the issue of Supreme Court giving a date for the election.

In response, the Punjab government has taken a stand that the Supreme Court does not have the authority to give the date of the election, the authority to give the date of the election belongs to other institutions of the state. Is.

In the reply, it has been said that under Article 218, it is the power of the Election Commission to conduct a fair and transparent election, in view of the division of powers, the Supreme Court has not given the date of the KP election, the power to change the election program lies with the Election Commission.

The Punjab government has responded by saying that after Imran Khan’s arrest, civil-military property was damaged, violent protests and demonstrations took place in which 162 police personnel were injured and 97 police vehicles were burnt. Security conditions have changed.

The Punjab government has further stated in the written reply that 5 lakh 54 thousand security personnel will be required for the election in Punjab and at present only 77 thousand personnel are available if the election is held.

In the same context, the federal government also requested a review of the verdict in the Punjab elections case. The federal government has submitted its reply to the Supreme Court on the request of the Election Commission.

It should be noted that the revision application of the Election Commission in the Supreme Court is scheduled for hearing tomorrow.
