Khartoum: Airstrikes and artillery exchanges between the country’s army and paramilitary rebels rocked the Sudanese capital, while gunmen stormed the Qatari embassy.
According to the World News Agency, despite repeated calls for a humanitarian ceasefire mediated by Saudi Arabia and international forces, the fighting in Gumsan continues in the capital of Sudan.
During the fierce fighting, the area around the state television building in Omdurman, the twin city of the capital Khartoum, continued to be bombarded. Meanwhile, armed men stormed the Qatari embassy.
Armed men entered the embassy and ransacked it. An attempt was also made to set fire to the building. The Qatari embassy was not staffed at the time of the attack.
Qatar’s foreign ministry condemned the attack in a statement and called for a ceasefire from the warring factions, saying the crew had already been evacuated, leaving the crew safe.
It should be noted that the embassies of Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey were also attacked in recent weeks during the power struggle in Sudan between the country’s army and the semi-autonomous Rapid Squad Force.
