Jeddah: 8 Pakistanis died and 6 were injured in a terrible fire in a hotel in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi media, Hajj pilgrims from Pakistan were staying in a hotel located on Ibrahim Khalil Road. A fire broke out suddenly on the third floor of the hotel. The fire spread so fast that no one could get out.
The fire brigade crew brought the fire under control after two hours of effort. 14 people were transferred to the hospital by rescue workers, where 8 people were confirmed dead while 6 are injured, 2 of them are in serious condition.
All the persons killed and injured in the tragic incident belong to Pakistan. The deceased belong to Kasur district of Punjab, including Riaz Gujjar, his wife, Haji Ashraf, his wife and mother-in-law and others.
So far, the cause of the fire has not been determined. An inquiry committee was formed to investigate the incident.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, it has been said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the best medical facilities are being provided to the injured and contact with the relatives of the deceased is being ensured.
