Moscow: Russian military company Wagner has claimed full control over the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, which is currently at the center of the war.
According to international media reports, both Russia and Ukraine have suffered heavy losses during the ongoing war in Bakhmut. If Wagner’s claim turns out to be true, it would be Russia’s most significant victory in the Ukraine war so far.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, boss of the Wagner Group, which is fighting in the region, claimed in a video posted on Telegram that the city had been taken over by the fighters. In the video, fighters were seen holding Russian flags against the background of the ruins.
Bakhmut was fully captured around noon today, May 20, Yevgeny said, adding that Wagner’s fighters would conduct a thorough search of the captured city before handing it over to Russian government forces. will
It should be noted that this claim by Wagner has come out when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended the G7 summit in Japan.
