Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa became the biggest bee breeding center and produced 30 thousand tons of honey annually.

The bee industry was introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1989 by the Afghan refugees, now the business of bee in the province, which started with five boxes, has reached millions of boxes. 10 to 15 lakh people are associated with this business while 30 thousand tons of honey is being produced annually which is exported to Gulf countries.

In different districts of the province, the honey of Berry, Pillai, Suparke and Rubynia is produced, in which the honey of Berry of Kirk district has no equal. Berry honey produced in Kirk is considered to be the best honey in the world, honey worth crores of rupees is produced in Kirk, but bee venom is more expensive than honey, which is used in various medicines for the production of which many Modern equipment and tools are needed, due to the lack of support from the provincial government, beekeepers could not be equipped with modern equipment for bee venom.

Sher Zaman Momand, General Secretary of All Pakistan Beekeepers and Honey Traders Association, says that honey production is decreasing due to climate change and lack of modern facilities. International honey market traders are worried because bee venom is rare and valuable and requires advanced technology to make it exportable. First is Corona epidemic, second is climate change and third is deforestation.

He said that till 2005 the beekeepers were happy but now due to the non-cooperation of the government they are facing a lot of problems which have caused a lot of loss to the beekeepers and traders. has been eradicated, while climate change, which has caused sudden rains and unpredictable changes in weather, has drastically reduced honey production.

He demanded from the provincial government to provide modern facilities to beekeepers so that the best honey can be produced in Pakistan and especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while the government should take steps to bring honey trade to European countries so as to create more opportunities in this industry. can be
