Occupied Jerusalem: The Israeli soldier who stole the key to Al-Aqsa Mosque returned the key years later.
According to Arab media, Yair Barak, a former paramilitary officer of the Israeli forces, returned the key to the Moroccan door of Al-Aqsa Mosque to the Department of Islamic Endowments. An Israeli officer stole the key in 1964.
The former Israeli soldier says that seeing the increasing provocative actions of the Israelis in the occupied Jerusalem, it seems that the time has come to return not only the keys, but also the West Bank and all the stolen goods to the Palestinians. The right should be returned to its owners.
The Moroccan Gate is one of the 15 gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. 10 of these doors are open and 5 are closed. In 2000, Israeli occupying forces seized the keys to the Moroccan gate and banned Muslims from entering through this gate. The Moroccan gate was opened to Jewish settlers and foreign tourists.
