Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will attend the Arab League summit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Syria has been re-admitted to the Arab League after 12 years, with Bashar al-Assad’s participation in the summit confirmed by the Syrian presidential Twitter account this afternoon.
Arab League Summit Preparations:
Flags of 22 member states have been flown on all major roads in Jeddah, security measures have been stepped up in the city.
The summit will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Egypt’s President Fatah al-Sisi is the first to arrive in Jeddah.
Lebanon’s Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Makati and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will also arrive in Jeddah today.
Shah Abdulaziz Highway from Shah Abdulaziz International Airport to Ritz-Carlton will be closed on Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 10 pm.
