Chinese authorities have fined a comedy company 1.47 million yuan for making fun of the military.
According to a foreign news agency, company member Li Haoshi mocked an army slogan in Beijing on Saturday.
Li Haoshi, a stand-up comedian, mocked the Chinese army’s slogan ‘good work style, able to win wars’.
The Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau said it investigated Li Haoshi’s joke and found that the joke violated the law.
Xiaogu Culture Media was fined 1.47 million yuan and all of the company’s upcoming events in Beijing and Shanghai have been cancelled.
The Culture and Tourism Bureau said that our army is the guardian of national security and the peace and tranquility of the people.
The Bureau said that we will not allow any company or individual to be the target of ridicule of the greatness of our military.
