The purpose of this film festival is to promote peace and culture in the region through film and cinema, in the past Pakistani films were also given place in this film festival.

This year, the list of South Asian countries released by the film festival included ‘Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Bhotal, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka’, but Pakistan was not included in the list.

However, due to the strained relations between India and Pakistan, this year Pakistan was removed from the list of eligible countries of South Asian countries, on which the current chairperson of the film festival, Priyanka Chopra, and all other organizers are facing severe criticism from social media users.

It should be noted that no apology or explanation has been issued by the organizers of the film festival for not including Pakistan in the list, due to which social media users are criticizing them and demanding that Pakistani filmmakers An opportunity will also be provided.

According to social media users, Pakistan is the most important country in South Asia and there is no denying the fact that Pakistani films are also second only to India compared to other countries in the region.

Consumers demanded from the film festival organizers to allow Pakistani filmmakers to screen their films at the Mumbai Film Festival.
