Karachi: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that whether the census is extended for 15 days or 50 days, the population of Karachi should be counted in any case.
Hafiz Naeemur Rahman, while giving a press conference at Noor Haq Institute regarding the results of the local body elections and the incomplete and controversial census, said that we had discussed the same in the meeting in Islamabad, that we should be granted an extension of 15 days. No, we want to be fulfilled. Only 1 million people have been counted in the last 15 days. A staff of 16,000 has conducted a census of one lakh houses.
He said that the work of census is being done with the budget of 34 billion rupees and 16 thousand staff could not even count the boxes of 16 thousand block codes. The number of high-rise buildings in Karachi is 38 thousand, where the staff has not gone. The census staff gave the forms in North Nazimabad and left. According to the SOP, the census was supposed to be digital, but they gave the forms and left.
Hafiz Naeem said that the vice-chairman of North Nazimabad has filled the form and submitted it to the staff but they have not been counted yet. The Sindh government is directly responsible to ensure that the census of Karachi is conducted correctly. People’s Party is not concerned about the population of cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur. When we talk about rights, PPP gives it linguistic color.
Amir Jamaat said that the ministers of People’s Party are talking about Karachi today, they could not plant their flags in Karachi. If we wanted, we could have reached an agreement with Altaf Hussain, but we did not do so. Everyone remembers the slogan of Benazir Altaf Bhai Bhai. Even today MQM along with People’s Party is cheating in Karachi census.
He said that we have a clear and blunt demand that wherever he lives in Karachi, no matter what language he speaks, he should be counted. It is the responsibility of those who took 34 billion rupees to count the population of Karachi correctly. Be it 15 days extension or 50 days, the entire population of Karachi should be counted. Falsification in census will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman questioned why data is not being provided at block code level. Census determines resources and Sindh Assembly seats. Since the formation of Pakistan till today, Wadira Shahi system is imposed in Sindh, which is also destroying the interior of Sindh and there is a politics of occupying Karachi as well.
