Wellington: A fire broke out in a hostel building in the capital of New Zealand, as a result of which 10 people have died.
According to international media reports, a fire incident occurred in a hostel in central Wellington in which 10 people were burnt to death while 30 people are still missing.
Emergency crews were called to the Adelaide shortly before 12:30 p.m A call was received regarding Loafers Lodge Hostel on Road reporting a fire on the upper floor.
Crews reached there and brought the fire under control, but 10 people were killed. Crews were able to safely evacuate 52 people from the building, while 30 people are still missing.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said the missing persons have not yet been confirmed dead. The injured persons have been shifted to the hospital, out of which the condition of one is critical and the condition of four is said to be out of danger.
According to reports, the security authorities have expressed fear that the fire was deliberately set.
