Dhaka: Bangladeshi authorities have ordered the evacuation of millions of people from the coastal areas in view of the dangerous storm.
According to international media reports, a high alert has been issued across the country in view of the dangerous storm in Bangladesh and its possible destruction.
Cyclone Mocha, one of the strongest cyclones to hit Bangladesh in nearly two decades, is forecast to make landfall near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border on Sunday. According to officials, this poses a major threat to the world’s largest Rohingya refugee camp.
A spokesman for Bangladesh’s Disaster Management Ministry said instructions have been issued to evacuate millions of people along our southeast coast.
The ministry’s statement came as the Meteorological Department issued its latest special meteorological bulletin calling for ‘major danger signal number 8’ to be hoisted at the sea ports of southeast Chittogram and Cox’s Bazar.
