The world’s oldest wild male lion fell victim to a herdsman in Kenya.

According to Kenyan authorities, the 19-year-old wild lion named Lonkitu was killed by a herdsman while hunting cattle in the Kenyan village of Olkilonet on Wednesday night.

According to the Lion Conservation Organization, this lion is the oldest male lion in our ecosystem and possibly in Africa as the average lifespan of a lion is 13 years.

According to the World Wildlife Federation, most of the lions of this species are found in Africa, while a few are found in India.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) spokesman Paul Janaro told the BBC that the tiger was old and weak and had entered the village from a nearby forest in search of food.

Paula Kahambo, wildlife conservationist and chief executive officer of Wildlife Direct, said she was deeply disturbed by the killing of the tiger and called for measures to protect the country’s endangered wildlife.
