Washington: The data of 237,000 US government employees was hacked.
According to a foreign news agency, the personal data details of 237,000 serving and retired employees of the US Department of Transportation have been revealed. The department wrote to Congress regarding the hacking of employee data.
U.S. transportation officials told a foreign news agency that it was not yet clear whether employee data was used in any criminal activity. The hacker targeted the section related to government employees’ financial affairs. The search for the hacker continues.
According to the Department of Transportation, the matter is being investigated and access to the department’s system has been frozen. After securing the system, the system will be opened for employees.
