San Francisco: Like Samsung, Google has unveiled its first foldable smartphone at the Google IO conference.
Earlier, many analysts had given their estimates. Now, as per the specifications, the folding phone takes the form of a small tablet when fully opened.
It has a 5.8-inch OLED display. It has gorilla glass wickets from one corner to the other. The screen display is 2,092 by 1,080 and has full HDR support. Color depth is set to 24 bits. The refresh rate is 120 Hz and when the brightness is fully opened, it becomes 1550 nits. It also has a display on the outside with a nine and a half megapixel camera. While 4K video recording can also be done.
There is an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the inside that shoots 1080p video. Thanks to split screen you can multitask at once. But when analysts placed the foldable phone upright on a table, the rear camera bulge felt slightly raised. But Google has repeatedly emphasized its desktop mode which causes some problems in this case.
Talking about the internal electronics, the 283 gram phone is equipped with Google Tensor G2 chip and Titan M2 security processor. The total storage is up to 512 GB with 12 GB of RAM. The foldable phone runs on Android 13 and will be updated to Android 14 by the end of the year.
Google is also committed to at least the next five years of security updates with this phone.
On the other hand, the main camera is of 48 megapixels which shows the field of view at an angle of 82 degrees. The second camera is Ultrawide which is 10.8 megapixels. There is also a facility to create 60 frames per second 4K video.
The introductory price of Google Pixel Fold has been set at $1799.
