California: A new covid-19 vaccine has been developed at Rutgers University in the US, which is believed to provide longer-lasting protection against covid and all its emerging variants than current vaccines.
Stephen Anderson, senior author of the study published in the journal Vaccines and associate professor of molecular biology and biochemistry at SAS, said: “We need a better vaccine that provides robust protection against Covid variants for years with a few booster shots. Provide. Our data suggest that those receiving a dose of this vaccine may be able to achieve this protection.
Current covid vaccines offer some protection against serious illness and death. However, these vaccines temporarily raise protective antibodies that quickly decline. Even with booster doses, people remain at risk of potentially life-threatening infections.
The new vaccine, called MT-001, may provide long-lasting protection against variants of Covid-19. According to Stephen Anderson, current vaccines have saved many lives, but they are not effective in some important cases. These may not prevent people from getting sick for long.
Rutgers researchers developed the vaccine using technological approaches from a National Institutes of Health project. The goal of the project was to create an antibody for every protein in the human body.
