Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi started a hunger strike for life in prison

Tehran: Famous Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, who has been in jail for six months, has started a hunger strike in jail.

According to the media report, Tahre Saidi, the wife of the filmmaker, informed people about this news on Instagram.

62-year-old Jafar Panahi has released a statement from prison, according to which the arrest is a kidnapping rather than a judicial sentence.

The award-winning filmmaker announced that he would neither eat nor take medicine until he was released.

Jafar Panahi was sentenced to six years in prison for attending the funeral of a student of the Green Revolution, and was also banned from making films and traveling for twenty years.
