New York: A United Nations report claims that since the Taliban imposed a ban on women working in NGOs, they have begun detaining female employees for violations.
According to the World News Agency, the United Nations report said that the Taliban detained some Afghan women working for their organization, harassed and restricted their movement.
Earlier last month, the Taliban government banned female employees of the United Nations mission from work, protesting which the international organization termed the ban as discriminatory and illegal.
It should be noted that the Taliban has banned women’s jobs since assuming power in August 2021.
The UN report added that the Taliban continue to crack down on restrictions on women and girls and those who speak out for their rights. In March, 4 women workers and a teacher teaching the girls, Matiullah, were arrested.
A feminist activist and her brother were detained in northern Takhar province in February, while in southern Kandahar province on March 5, Taliban forces arrested and shot a former police officer at home, according to a UN report. He was killed.
The report said that in March, an ex-military official was killed by unknown gunmen in his home in the northern province of Balkh.
