Islamabad: The delay in the staff-level agreement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised fears of affecting the budgeting process.
According to the details, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released the schedule of the meetings of the IMF Executive Board, according to which the issue of Pakistan is not included in the agenda of the meetings of the IMF Board till May 17.
Sources say that if there is no staff level agreement, there will be no funding from the international financial institutions and there is also a fear that the budgeting process will be affected if the issues are not settled with the IMF.
However, if a staff-level agreement is reached between Pakistan and the IMF, then Pakistan can request the IMF to convene a special meeting of the Executive Board to approve the economic review and get the loan program back on track.
Due to the lack of agreement, the loan program between Pakistan and the IMF is still delayed, which is likely to affect the budgeting process, as the IMF was not satisfied with the assurance of funding from the friendly countries, which Later, Pakistan has given another financing program of one billion dollars.
