The United Nations World Food Program will stop financial and food aid to the Palestinians from next month due to severe funding shortages.
The WFP (World Food Organization) decision will affect 60 percent of the needy Palestinian families in Gaza and the West Bank.
Speaking to a foreign news agency, the country director of the World Food Program, Sami Abdul Jubeir, said that aid to more than 200,000 Palestinians will be stopped from next month.
He says that due to the lack of funds, this painful decision was made. Aid to the needy 140,000 Palestinians will continue, but until the required funding comes, they will be forced to stop aid to the Palestinians until August.
It should be noted that WFP provides 10.3 dollars per person and food baskets to families suffering from poverty in Gaza and the West Bank.
Israel has imposed blockades on Gaza and the West Bank over security concerns, restricting the movement of people and goods for years.
