Demand of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to end ban on delivery of wheat and flour from Punjab

Peshawar: In view of the fear of flour crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the caretaker chief minister demanded that Punjab lift the ban on the delivery of flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has sent a letter to Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in which it has been said that the Food Department of Punjab has established check posts at the entry points of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from these check posts, wheat and flour trucks can be transported. Entry is not allowed in KP.

It has been said in the post that due to this shutdown, flour prices are increasing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and there is fear of shortage of flour and wheat in the province.

In the message sent by the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it has been said that due to shortage of flour, law and order situation may arise in the province.

It is further stated in the post that even the wheat purchased from Pasco is not being allowed to be brought into the province, which is creating an impression that these actions of the Food Department of Punjab are against the spirit of Article 151 of the Constitution which states that between the provinces Prohibits restrictions on free movement of foodstuffs.

According to the post, Civil Society and Flour Mills Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are protesting on this issue.

The letter sent by Mohammad Azam Khan has demanded that orders be issued to the Food Department of Punjab to abolish these check posts and allow free movement of wheat/flour.
