Karachi: Consumer Court Sharqi ordered the owner of the marriage hall to return Rs 180,000 to the citizen.
An application was heard against the owner of the marriage hall for charging extra money before the consumer court of Karachi.
The petitioner’s lawyer stated that my client had booked his daughter’s wedding hall on October 28, 2021, where the arrangements for 500 guests were settled at Rs 4 lakh 50 thousand. Due to the Corona situation, the government had given permission to invite only 300 guests to the wedding.
The lawyer said that he told the owner of the hall that instead of 500, 300 guests will come and the payment will be made, but the hall owner threatened a day before the wedding that the guests should be 300 or the 500 should be paid in full. The wedding hall owner charged 500 guests instead of 300.
After hearing the arguments, the court ordered the owner of the wedding hall to return the extra Rs 180 thousand received and also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the owner of the wedding hall.
The court ordered the wedding hall owner to pay all dues within 30 days.
