San Francisco: Following in the footsteps of Meta and Tutor, Google has now started working on its BlueTick feature, offering its own account verification.
The blue mark may appear on the Gmail account name or on the round icon. According to Google, people will know that the account belongs to the real company. This way people can avoid fake accounts and scammers.
Gmail calls it the ‘Brand Indicators for Message Identification’ (BIMI) feature. For this, the companies will also be requested for their authentic logos. Companies that have already adopted BIMI will automatically get the Blue Mark.
Google has also released an image that reads: ‘The sender of this email is verified.’ This means that the profile image and domain of the company from which this message came is owned by that company.
According to Google, one-mail verification will benefit both the recipient and the sender of the email. This will also help prevent spam email.
It should be noted that the blue checkmark is a work in progress for both Google Workspace and normal accounts.
