The trade agreement between Pakistan and Turkey came into effect.
Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar has said that the trade agreement between Pakistan and Turkey is a significant milestone in the historic brotherly relations, which will create new opportunities to promote bilateral trade in various sectors.
According to the announcement issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the agreement on trade in goods between Pakistan and Turkey has become effective from May 1. In August 2022, the agreement on trade in goods was signed by Turkish Minister of Commerce and Federal Minister of Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar.
Under the agreement, the two countries will implement mutual tariff concessions for selected exports. Pakistan has got preferential access to Turkey market under 261 tariff lines.
Potential exports to Turkey include traditional and non-traditional sectors such as leather, rice, dates, mangoes, cutlery, sporting goods, seafood, processed agricultural products, rubber tubes and tires, plastics and engineering materials. , while concessions have been extended to Turkey on 130 tariff lines, including black tea, processed food products, industrial raw materials and parts of machinery and electronic equipment.
