Elections will be held today for more than 8,000 seats in 230 local councils in England.
For the first time, it has been made mandatory to show ID before voting in elections, voters will be able to vote by showing their passport or driving license.
People above 60 years of age will also be able to show their bus pass or parking blue badge.
Elections will be held in all 9 council seats including Bolton, Liverpool, Oldham, Wolverhampton.
A third of the 23 council seats, including Bradford, Leeds, Manchester, Coventry, Rochdale and Walsall, will also be up for election.
There will also be general elections in 32 unitary councils, including Leicester, Luton, Nottingham, Slough, and Stoke-on-Trent.
In 105 district councils full while in 47 district councils one-third seats will be elected.
There will also be voting for local mayoral elections in Bedford, Leicester, Mansfield and Middlesbrough.
The Conservative Party will defend more than 3,300 local seats while the Labor Party will defend more than 2,000 local seats.
The Liberal Democrats will defend more than 1,200 local seats while the Green Party will defend 240 local seats.
The polling process will start from 7 am to 10 pm.
