Kolkata: 14 people died due to lightning in the Indian state of West Bengal.

According to foreign news agencies, lightning strikes occurred in five districts of West Bengal. According to the Indian Disaster Management Department, lightning strikes occurred during moderate rains in West Bengal. Most of the dead were farmers working in the fields.

According to the local administration of Bengal, four deaths were reported in Purba Bardhaman district, two in Murshidabad and two in North 24 Parganas due to lightning while some other areas also reported deaths.
