Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has downgraded Wikipedia services for 48 hours.
According to ARY News, PTA had contacted Wikipedia for not removing the insulting content on the official authorities, but the services have been downgraded for not removing the insulting content.
The PTA says it will consider lifting restrictions after removing reported illegal content.
The restoration of the services of Wikipedia will be reconsidered subject to blocking / removal of the reported unlawful contents. PTA is committed to ensuring a safe #online experience for all #Pakistani citizens according to local laws.

The PTA said Wikipedia was given an opportunity to be heard but neither removed the offending content nor appeared before the authority.
The regulatory authority said Wikipedia’s services have been downgraded for 48 hours in the country with instructions to remove the offending content in view of the platform’s willful failure to comply with PTA directives.
