Lahore: Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman refused to give the date of the general elections of the provincial assembly.
Balighur Rehman, in a letter written to Secretary Election Commission, Speaker Provincial Assembly and former Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar on Punjab Assembly election date, said that consultation with all stakeholders is necessary before giving the date of elections.
He further said that Clause 3 of Article 105 of the Constitution cannot be implemented in the present situation. In the text, Governor Punjab further said that Punjab Assembly is not dissolved by order of Governor Punjab, Article 105 is not applicable.
Balighur Rehman said that the election process is subject to the provisions of Article 224 and Election Act 2017. He further said that law and order and economic situation in the country is not good.
He further said that the Election Commission should take further necessary action according to the constitution, while the order mentioned by former Punjab Chief Minister and PTI leader Usman Buzdar in para 2 of the post has not been issued.
